We just got Dad into a room here at the hospital. He didn't have any problems with the anesthesia and has even had eaten some jello and pudding and is keeping them down. He is kind of in and out right now--napping a bit but is not in a ton of pain.
His surgeon said his knee and leg were crooked and in fact that because of that his knee was one of the worst ones he'd done. He was able to straighten it out and it is in great form now but took twice the time to do. They gave him a leg block for pain and said it was a really good one so he shouldn't have much pain for 36-48 hours. Although he does have the magic button for morphine just in case!
They do plan on getting him up around 2:00 p.m. our time to take him for a little walk. Yep, that's the way they do things these days! (I just say "OUCH!")
