HELL HATH NO FURY

We've been having a problem with our air-conditioner for awhile. We thought we had fixed it last summer but knew it was possible it might still have a leak. Sure enough when we started it up this summer it wasn't cooling quite like it should. Finally today we had someone come look at it. They found the inner coils had frozen over and had to thaw out before they could really see what was going on. So, guess what we had to do. No guess. Seriously, just take a stab at it. Yep, we had to crank on the heat to melt the ice on the coils. Uh huh. Crazy right?! For like 2-3 hours--IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SUMMER!

So, ever had a Hot Flash in a hot house in the middle of a hot summer?! Not gonna tell you how I know but it sure isn't pretty! In fact, Hell hath no fury like a woman having a hot flash in a hot house in the middle of a hot summer! All I'm gonna say is be glad you didn't run into that woman today! Hahaha!

JULIE'S VISIT

We had a special treat yesterday and today. Our daughter Julie came home for an overnight visit. She came up on the train. I didn't tell the little ones she was coming so it would be a surprise for them. Carly was off on a play date. It was just me and Jono who went to pick her up but I didn't tell him where we were going. Sometimes when we drive by the train station he asks if we can stop there and pick Julie up. I try to explain that she isn't there but he doesn't really understand. I guess it doesn't make much since to him since that's where we left her last time she was here. We should be able to just go back to the train station and get her, right? Lol.

Anyway, as we left the house to go get her I just told him we needed to run an errand but as I started driving out of the blue he said, "Mommy, are we going to get Julie?" I answered him with a question. "What made you ask that?" He just kept pressing. "Can we?' I asked him if he really wanted to and he did. So, I told him if he wished really hard and crossed his fingers and toes and said "Julie, be at the train station" over and over that we could drive by and see if she was there. (I know, I'm terrible and he's gullible.) He's four and it was adorable. We both crossed our fingers and wished Julie here! HE LOVED IT!

Next we went to pick Carly up from her play date. I went to the door and told her I had a surprise in the van for her. She asked me what it was and I told her I couldn't tell her but it was really big. She said, "Is it a bike?" Lol! Uh oh! Hahaha! Nope, no bike--but the reaction was just as good. These kiddos love their big sis! They were so excited to see her. When she left today they went into about an hour of mourning. Jono came in and sang a song for me he made up about missing Julie. It was so cute I had him record it and I texted it to her. Not to be outdone, Carly made up her own song and I had to record hers and text it to Julie, too. Funny kids.

I have to admit we were all pretty glad to see her.  Even Daddy came home early to spend time with her. We really miss having her around. Love you Jules!

CATCHING UP

Gosh I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted something. I'm sorry. We've spent the weekend working around the house. Rob worked on building some shelves in the garage and I got the lawn done. It was pretty humid for here this past week so that slowed us a bit and we took our time.

The kids rode bikes while we worked. Jono ended up with a long time out for taking his bike into the middle of the road. We live on a road that gets some fast drivers. It's not so much really busy as it is just through traffic that tends to drive a little too fast. We have a neighbor across the street whose daughter was hit by a car several years ago. Luckily, she survived but we don't want to have a repeat of that.

We are gearing up for the 4th of July, well, actually the 5th which is our big family holiday--Dad's birthday! His sister Sally and her husband are coming for a visit and we will have the whole family here. Susan and Sarah and their families are coming also.

Just to catch things up--we did get through Rob's bout of kidney stones. Yay! He had to have them blasted and all went smoothly. Thank goodness. Hopefully, that will be the last batch he produces!

Grandma and Grandpa are both doing well. So are we. Not much else to tell. Have a great week!

FROM THE MOUTHS OF BABES . . .

The kids came in from playing outside last night. I was sitting on the couch and Carly came over, crouched down beside me and patted my knee. She said, "You've been a great Mom." I looked at her kind of funny and said, "What, are you quitting me?" Lol!

She was actually just trying to tell me I was a good Mommy for letting them play a little longer with their friends but sometimes funny things just fall out of their mouths. Just had to share. Too funny!

ROLLING STONES . . .

Poor Rob is still trying to pass some pretty good sized kidney stones. If he hasn't passed them in 3 more days they will blast them out of there. He worked today but did so with quite a bit of pain. That's hard but it's also good in a way because it means the stones are moving. We are really hoping they will come through on their own and that they won't have to be blasted. Time will tell I guess but please keep us in your prayers if you will.

I took the kids to the amusement park for a few hours this morning with some friends. Then they came home and played with some other friends this afternoon. I know, rough life. Somewhere in there I did make them clean things up a little but they still got off pretty easy.

It was a really cool evening so I let them ride their bikes in the back yard. After dinner I went out on the swing and sat and watched them as they did. It was fun to just watch them play. I love calm spring/summer nights like tonight.

I think Mom worked outside a little earlier but she was done by the time I got home. The garden looks great, though. I will have to take some pics soon and put them up.

Night all.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABY! GOT YOU ON MY MIND!

Had a wonderful date with my hubby yesterday to celebrate our nine happy years together. We had a late lunch at OutBack Steakhouse and then went to see the new Captain America movie. My brother in law, Steve, came up with his kids to watch ours so we could go out and spend some alone time together. It was nice to just be able to go off and not have to worry about anything for a few hours. We had a really fun time and I still can't believe it's been nine years already. I love my husband so much! He is always so good to me! I am so, so, so blessed! I love you honey! Happy Anniversary!

WHEN GIVING BIRTH ISN'T HAPPY . . .

Lots going on. Rob is currently trying to give birth to three kidney stones. Luckily only one of them is large. The other two are only medium. He seems to have a knack for making these little babies. :(
Poor guy -- no fun at all.

My niece and nephew are spending a few days with us while their dad is on a business trip. The kids are having a fun time with their cousins. The best thing is that tonight they taught both Carly and Jono to ride their bikes without training wheels. I was really amazed because we have been working on balance with them but I had no idea they would be able to do it this quickly.

Carly lost her fourth tooth tonight! I think this one hurt the most coming out. It has been loose forever and Rob had to force it a teeny bit to get it to finally come out. A few tears later she was a happy little girl to have something to leave for the tooth fairy.

Grandma has been working hard on our front garden. It looks so nice. It's been really hot here so I am really impressed that she keeps at it. I am definitely not the child who got the gardening gene so I feel truly blessed to have my parents here making our garden beautiful.

We took the kids, the dogs and Rob on a walk tonight. We were thinking it might dislodge his stones and help them move through his system so he can be rid of them. So far . . . no luck. He is still hurting. All prayers on his behalf are sure welcome.

Well, that's all for now folks!
