SKATING FUN

It's been an odd Winter here so far. The last few weeks have been Spring-like until just the last couple of days when it's turned a bit colder. I think we have really only had one or two major snows and those were right around Christmas time. It's been nice not to have the stress of shoveling but we do need the moisture here in our drought-ridden state. We may have to count on Spring rains for that.

I took the kids to a free skate Carly's school was putting on tonight. One of my good friends and her family went with us. We all had a fun time. Rob is on call so he didn't go. He figured he'd better rest up, just in case he got called out in the middle of the night.

I finally pulled Carly out of gymnastics last week. It's just too much competition with her little brother. He has the body of a gymnast and it all comes so naturally to him. Carly does well but she really has to work at it. Jono not only does well, he soars and it just frustrates the life out of Carly that she can't do the same.

Thus, I am having her do something different that can be hers-- and hers alone. At first she wanted to do Karate, but I think she is going to settle on dance. She has a couple of friends that may take it with too and that would be fun for her.

Grandma and Grandpa are doing pretty well. Nothing major to report anyway. Turns out we are all pretty boring.

FROM THE "I GUESS I'VE BEEN WHINING A LITTLE TOO MUCH" CATEGORY

This afternoon I picked the kids up, Jono from pre-school and Carly from hers and we headed down the road to meet up with Rob. He wasn't far from us. I was busy listening to something on the radio and the kids were in conversation when Carly bursts out with this charming nugget: "Mom, I'm having a hot flash back here!" OH. MY. WORD. I nearly busted a gut! She didn't like my laughing out loud at all and got defensive. "Mom, seriously!! I'm having hot flashes just like the ones you have! It's so hot back here it's making my head hurt!" I had no words. Yah, enough said. Hahaha! Love my baby girl so much!

A SICK DAY

I've spent the day in bed with a sick kid on either side of me. Poor Rob is on call and he started getting calls at 6 a.m. and by the time he left the house he had three calls. Before he got home this evening around 5:30 p.m. he'd done four calls. Jonathon has been sick all week. Carly caught it toward the end of the week and I got sick on Friday. It hasn't been the best week but I'm grateful Grandma and Grandpa haven't caught it. The best part of the day was when I texted our daughter Megan to let her know we were all sick and she might not want to come by (she usually spends Sunday evenings with us) and she offered to come and make dinner. I accepted and it was really good. It's so nice to have other hands to help when you really aren't feeling well. Here's to a healthier week than last week! Hope all is well where you are. :)

WORK ANYONE?

Don't worry. We're still here. Everyone is fine. I've just been consumed lately with finding people jobs. It's turned into an almost around the clock job. You see, in our church we get callings (jobs). It's a lay ministry. Mine is the employment specialist. Yesterday I topped over 30 people who are either out of work or who need improved employment. I have been meeting with them, doing resumes and writing cover letters, showing them where and how to look for jobs and prepare for interviews. I have been spending hours and hours searching for jobs for them myself as well. I have a few of them that are in really tough spots so I have had to spend extra time with them. It's kind of been all consuming. Yesterday my bishop said, "Now Nancy, don't let this take over your life." I looked at him and kind of rolled my eyes  . . . Lol. "Uh, it's a little late for that Bish." BTW, that was right after his sermon on taking care of the one. I have over 30 of those "ones". It's a little hard not to try to take care of them when they are in need. Although, I am trying to figure out the balance a little better now.

My baby girl is just under 10 days from turning 7. I can't believe it. Seems like not so long ago I was holding that chubby cheeked little baby girl in my arms. Just last night she lost the second of her top teeth. She is so grown up in her talking and thinking. She loves it when they accidentally call her Carolyn at school and she is very big helper to her mom and grandma.

Speaking of which, Grandma and Grandpa are doing well. No doctor appointments this week. Just hanging around the house.

The rest of the family is doing well also. Not much else to tell. Well, I will try not to be so much of a stranger. More later.
